Hi guys, and here we are back for more important events of the Carnevale di Venezia 2015.
We have almost reached the core of this incredible holiday. Here are the next events:
Saturday 07
- At 11AM and at 3PM, contest for the best mask in Piazza San Marco. If you want to participate, you’ll just have to register on the official website.
- At noon you can move to the fish market of Rialto for a party where you’ll get to taste the typical local baccalà (see our related post on the top 5 foods to eat in Venice – entry #3).
- At 4Pm back to San Marco for the “Festa delle Marie”. A traditional event that evokes a historical tribute to the Doge (ruler of Venice) of 12 beautiful girls. This events lasts for several day and the lucky winner gets to be the Angel on the next year’s Carnival.
Sunday 08
- At noon the famous “Flight of the Angel” in Piazza San Marco. This traditional event goes back to the Serenissima period where an unknown guest of Venice, flying along a rope from San Marco bell tower to the middle of the square, would offer an homage to the Doge. The Angel of this year is Marianna Serena
We also suggest you, if you’re looking for an evening entertainment, to visit the Nights of Arenale, on the evenings of 7h-8h and from the 12h to the 17h.
