Venice Events: Regata Storica 2015

August and September are months full of important events here in Venice and a big one is coming up next weekend. In fact, the famous Regata Storica will be held next Sunday (Sunday 6).

The site offers you to buy tickets for a special platform. Don’t, it’s a waste of money. Instead, depending on what you prefer to see, the start, the middle of the race or the finish, you should stay in Giardini di Castello, Rialto, or Ca’Foscari.

Our favourite location is Rialto, as most races do a U-turn there, and allow you to take a good look, also there are many good bars in Campo dell’Erbaria where you could go for an aperitif after the race… two birds with one stone.

At 4PM on Sunday the famous historical regatta opens the dances on Canal Grande starting in St. Marks bay.

After that the competitive regattas start.The most important one is the last, at about 6.10PM, TWIN-OARED GONDOLINI REGATTA also called in italian “Regata dei campioni” (Champions regatta).
