Wifi in Venice: How-to

Hi guys!
Easter has passed! How did you spend it?
We’re here again for an important topic: how to use wifi in Venice.
The city provides a network of hotspots located in several major squares or calli (streets). Look here for the official map.
So how does it work? The bad news is that wifi access if free for locals but tourists need to pay for it. Luckily, the price is totally affordable, and unless you have free wifi in your hotel, this is the next best solution.
You need to access the official VeneziaUnica site: http://www.veneziaunica.it/en/ecommerce/composer. It provides several services, but the only one you might really need is wifi. Don’t waste money on the others.
The prices are:
- 5 eur for 1 day
- 15 eur for 3 days
- 20 eur for 7 days
It’s up to you.. you may think it’s worth it or not, but right now this is the only official solution.
Unless…
The trick would be to know a local, who has wifi for free, and use his account. Perhaps if you’re staying in Venice with Couchsurfing, you could ask to your host if he has an account he’s willing to share. As Italian Buddy we’re also thinking of a way to give you free wifi passwords, but we can’t really promise anything by now, we sh0uld know something by the time the guide is finished 😉
